Accessibility statement

Acumen Logic is committed to making our platform usable for everyone, including people with disabilities. This statement describes how we approach accessibility, the standard we are working toward, and what to do if you encounter a barrier.

Our target standard

We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We are not yet fully conformant — known issues are listed below.

To be precise about how we check: automated accessibility linting runs on every build, so a defined set of code-level issues cannot ship. We do not currently carry out a formal manual or assistive-technology audit of each release, and automated checks catch only a minority of real accessibility barriers. That is why the contact route below matters, and why we would rather hear from you than assume.

What we have done

Semantic HTML landmarks — header, navigation and a main region — on pages inside the app.
Keyboard access to the interactive elements of the core journeys, with a visible focus ring.
Skip-to-content link as the first focusable element inside the app.
Screen-reader announcements for route changes, password-reset requirements, and question flag state.
Text alternatives for non-decorative images.
A Settings → Accessibility page with reduce-motion, text-size, high-contrast, dyslexia-font, line-spacing, and colour-blind-safe chart controls. These are saved on the device you set them on, and currently apply inside the app rather than on the sign-in and registration pages.
Support for the operating-system preferences prefers-reduced-motion and prefers-contrast.
Keyboard shortcuts in the timed assessment runner, with a help overlay at ?.

Known issues

We are transparent about outstanding work. These items are actively tracked and will be resolved in upcoming releases:

Ranking questions use drag-and-drop as the primary interaction; a keyboard-operable button alternative is always available, but some screen readers may not announce position changes with full fidelity.
Billing invoices and customer-portal pages are provided by Stripe and are outside our direct control; if you need these in an alternative format please contact us.
Some decorative background textures on marketing pages may have slightly reduced contrast when high-contrast mode is also combined with browser extensions.
Our gold focus ring, and the on/off states of the toggles on the Settings → Accessibility page, do not yet meet the 3:1 contrast ratio WCAG requires for non-text user-interface components. Turning on high-contrast mode improves this. A fix is in progress.
Pages inside the app do not currently expose a footer landmark.
The cookie banner moves keyboard focus to itself shortly after the page loads, cannot be dismissed with the Escape key, and does not return focus to where you were once you choose. It can be reached and operated by keyboard, and you can Tab past it.
Charts and the abstract-reasoning shape stimuli are drawn as on-screen graphics. Some do not yet carry a full text alternative. If a chart or a question is not readable to you, email us and we will describe it and treat the sitting fairly.
Accessibility preferences are stored per device and per browser, so they do not follow you to another device.

Adjustments for timed assessments

Our practice assessments are timed on purpose, because they replicate timed employer tests. If the timing is a barrier for you because of a disability, email us at support@acumenlogic.co.uk before you sit one and we will discuss what we can reasonably do.

We want to be straight with you about what we can and cannot do today, rather than promise something and then fail you at the moment it matters:

We cannot currently extend the on-screen timer. The time limit for each assessment is fixed in the product and there is no per-account setting that changes it. Building one is on our list; it does not exist yet.
What we can do instead is agree with you in advance how to work around it — for example untimed practice using the drills, or agreeing that we disregard the timing and the score on a particular sitting so you can use the material without the clock counting against you.
The rest of the platform — dashboards, drills, reviews, lessons and analytics — is not timed, and the settings on the Settings → Accessibility page apply throughout.

Please talk to us before you buy if timing is likely to be a barrier, so that you can decide with the full picture. The free Benchmark and the drills will give you a good sense of whether the rest of the platform works for you.

A note on a figure you may have seen elsewhere: an earlier version of this page referred to “25% or 50% additional time” as a WCAG-recognised standard. That was wrong on both counts — WCAG does not set those percentages (they come from UK exam access arrangements), and we had no mechanism to apply them. We have removed the claim rather than leave it standing.
